Successor of Claudius Unimanus (see 146), and defeated by Viriathus (Auct. Vir. Ill. 71). Probably succeeded by Laelius, either in this year or early in 144 (see above). (Broughton MRR I)
Pr. Hisp. Cit. 145 or 144. See MRR 1.466 on Claudius Unimanus, 1.469 on Nigidius and also on Laelius. These three governors of Hisp. Cit., not mentioned by Appian, must be dated before Metellus Macedonicus, Cos. 143; while the notice in Auct. Vir. Ill. 76 places Nigidius after Claudius. Simon (Kriege 77- 79) would place Nigidius after Laelius, Pr. in 145, but as the latter was active in Rome for some time in his praetorship (MRR 1.469) before going to Spain, I am inclined to list him next after Nigidius.
