Dziatzko holds that these were Aediles at the time of a revival performance and is inclined to identify Valerius with the Consul of 131. Seidel (78) and Cichorius (Untersuch. Lucil. 235-237) use the combination of a plebeian and a patrician as an indication that the old rule of alternation had been given up. Dates and identifications remain exceedingly doubtful.
