Career

  • Quaestor 120 Asia (Broughton MRR III) Expand
    • Cichorius interprets Cicero's reference to mean Albius' accounts as Quaestor, approval of which by Albucius was a point in favor of Scaevola. (Broughton MRR I)
    • With Scaevola in Asia (Cic. De Or. 2.281; see Cichorius, Untersuch. Lucil. 246). (Broughton MRR I)
    • Quaestor 120. In MRR 1.524, delete the praenomen P. The more recent dating of the SC de agro Pergameno to 129 removes the evidence for the praenomen which Cichorius suggested (RS 116-125); see now Sherk, RDGE no. 12, pp. 63-73; cf. MRR 2.23, where the completion of the name P. Al[..., and others in the list is quite uncertain; cf. also 2.24, note 10. Mention of the tabulae (Cic. De Or. 2.281) confirms that Albius was Scaevola's quaestor in Asia in 120, whatever the evidence they provided the unsuccessful prosecutor Albucius in his trial (see Gruen, RPCC 115-116). (Broughton MRR III)
  • Decemvir Agris Dandis Assignandis 91 (Broughton MRR II) Expand
    • This list, found at Vibo (CIL 10.44, and p. 1003), is interpreted by Cichorius (RS 116-125) to be a list of land commissioners appointed under the law of Livius Drusus. (Broughton MRR II)
    • 10 Cichorius' interpretation of this inscription remains uncertain both as to the meaning of the list and as to the restorations suggested for a number of the names. He is probably mistaken in suggesting C. Iulius L. f. Caesar, who was a commissioner ca. 100 (see 100, Special Commissions). (Broughton MRR II)
