Career

• Praetor before 91 (Broughton MRR II) Expand
  • An orator prominent in Cicero's boyhood (Cic. Brut. 130; De Or. 2.246), and perhaps the Pr(aetor) named in CIL 12.2.801-ILS 4015, who consecrated an altar to an unknown god. The date is certainly before 90 B. C. (Broughton MRR II)
  • Quaestor of the consul L. Calpurnius Bestia in 111 (Sall. lug. 29.4-6; MRR 1.541, 543, note 4). He should more probably be identified with C. Sextius C. f. Calvinus (21), Pr. ca. 92 (see ILLRP 291; MRR 2.18) than with P. Sextius (9), who was convicted toward 90 of ambitus while pr. desig. (Cic. Brut. 180).
