Vell. 2.26.2, an ex-Praetor in 82; cf. Cic. De Or. 3.10; Brut. 311; Val. Max. 9.2.3. (Broughton MRR II)
Pr. urb. 83. Shackleton Bailey (CQF 192-193, on QF 2.11 [10].3; and Studies 19) finds better MSS authority for the form Burrenus in Pro Quinctio 25, 30, and 69, and (see also Wiseman NM 217, no. 71) connects the word with Cicero's punning joke in QF. But see now H. I. McAdam and N. J. Munday (CPh 78, 1983, 131-136), who reject the word Bostrenum (man of Bostra) in QF above, and suggest 0sroenum; cf. G. W. Bowersock, Roman Arabia 36-37.
