    • Celebrated the first performance of the Ludi Victoriae Sullanae (Grueber, CRRBM 1.470f.; cf. Vell. 2.27.6; CIL 12.1, p. 333; Schol. Gron. 338 Stangl). (Broughton MRR II)
    • Praetor 81. See MRR 2.76 and 447. Name and cognomen are assumed from the letters PR. L. v. P. F. and SEX. NONI on the issue of coins attributed to M. Nonius Sufenas, his son (RE no. 52), and now dated by Crawford, RRC 1.445-446, no. 421, to 59 (rather than 63 as in MRR 2.447). He interprets the inscription as Sex. Noni(us) Pr(aetor) L(udos) V(ictoriae) P(rimus) F(ecit). On these Ludi in honor of Sulla's victory, see Vell. 2.27.6; CIL 1(2).1, p. 333; Schol. Gron. 338St; App. BC 1.99; Degrassi, Inscr. Ital. 13.1.526. Crawford and Degrassi reject H. B. Mattingly's proposal to read PR as PR(aeneste) and have the games performed there in the charge of the quaestors (NC 16, 1956, 189ff.). On the Nonii, see Shackleton Bailey, Studies 109-111. (Broughton MRR III)
