ATTI2270 C. Attius (not in RE) Celsus

  • Praetor 65 city (Broughton MRR II) Expand
    • He urged Cicero to defend Manilius (Cic. Corn. 1, fr. 10, and Ascon. 65 C; cf. Plut. Cic. 9.4-6; Q. Cic. Comm. Pet. 51; Ascon. 66 C; Dio 36.44.1-2; Schol. Bob. 119 Stangl; see 66, Tribunes of the Plebs, on Manilius). (Broughton MRR II)
    • Pr. 65? See MRR 2.157-158. According to A. M. Ward, he may have been praetor in 66, depending on when he asked Cicero to defend Manilius (TAPhA 101, 1970, 547-556, esp. 548, note 15). See Wiseman, NM 216, no. 58. There is already a surplus of possible praetors in 66, since there were only eight places. Of the nine listed the least likely are those whose aedileships could have been earlier than 69.[28x] (Broughton MRR III)
