c. 46
(Broughton MRR II)
Expand
An officer, probably a Legate, since he was a senator, in the Pompeian forces in Africa (Bell. Afr. 57; 89.5). (Broughton MRR II)
Leg., lieut.? 46. See MRR 2.300. He had held offices earlier (Bell. Afr. 57.3). He may be identified with M. Aquinus (5; cf. 2), Leg., lieut. under Cassius in 43 and 42 (MRR 2.364, and insert him for 43 in 2.352). Appian's reference in BC 2.119 to an # who joined the liberators after the murder of Caesar favors the identification (TJC). On his coinage in 43-42, see Crawford, RRC 1.513, no. 498. See also Wiseman, NM 214, no. 36.
