    • When the father laid down his office because of illness Octavian appointed the son in his place (Dio 49.43.7). (Broughton MRR II)
    • See MRR 2.415. The nomen in Dio (49.43.7) is L. Asyllius (#, emended to Asellius by Pighius). Note the same spelling in the cognomen of L. Sempronius Asellio (MRR 2.10, note 3, 96 B.C.). Badian suggests that the praetors listed above were also later Sempronii Aselliones (PACA 11, 1968, 2-6, with extensive discussion of their possible connections).
