SCRI3080 L. Scribonius (19) Libo

B. W. Frier suggests that the father of the consul of the same name in 34 may have been praetor urbanus in 80, and as such may have built the Puteal Libonis (or Scribonianum) in connection with the building of a praetor's tribunal in the southeastern part of the Forum (TAPhA 113, 1983, 221-241, esp. 223). Cf. MRR 2.479 and 481; ILS 5526, 5528; ILLRP 411, 567, 568. On the Puteal, see also L. Richardson, MDAI(R) 80, 1973, 219-233, esp. 229-231; E. Nash, Pictorial Dictionary of Ancient Rome 2.259-261; Crawford, RRC 1.441-442, no. 416, 62 B.C. (Broughton MRR III)
