    • See MRR 2.486, and 1.407, note 6. Sumner has offered the attractive suggestion that the short-lived P. Cornelius Scipio, prognatum Publio, of CIL 1(2).2.10-ILS 4, was son of P. Scipio, the son of Africanus who was an augur (see MRR 1.390). His brief tenure of the priesthood, as flamen dialis, may be dated either within the period from 182 to 174 or from 173 to 169, where there are large lacunae in Livy's text, perhaps in 175 (Orators 36).
