father of C. Claudius P. f. Nero (247). Pr. 81 and Procos. in Asia in 80. P. Conole, in connection with his discussion of the suppression of the revolt of Fregellae by L. Opimius in 125, suggests that this man was the commander P. Claudius who is reported in Valerius Maximus (6.5.1) as subduing ductu atque auspiciis suis the revolt of the Camerini (undated, and were they Amerini or Arretini?) and treating them so generously (Antichthon 15, 1981, 129-140). The praenomen P., infrequent among Claudii Nerones, gives some support to the suggestion. There is no other mention of him and his command.
