Leg., envoy 85. Sent by Sulla to talk with Fimbria when he requested a colloquy (App. Mith. 60). This envoy, identified by Münzer (RE 34) and Lintott (Historia 20, 1971, 700 note 22), with the aged consular exile, P. Rutilius Rufus (34), was probably a younger officer, and may have been P. Rutilius Nudus (Badian, Gnomon 33, 1961, 492; cf. H. Bennett, Cinna and His Times 56-57, note 99). On Nudus, see below. (Broughton MRR III)
